Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky were officially married on Saturday night. Former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton released this statement:
“Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.”

The technology was conceptualized by Lit Studios and developed by Interference Incorporated, an innovative marketing company based in the New York City area, that develops interactive technologies for clients “wishing to set themselves apart.”
Let Change Happen

The situation in US K12 education is really bad: states are broke and the calcified system is unable to respond creatively; deep inequities persist; and urban centers are unable to elect and sustain effective school governance.
The situation in US K12 education is really good: Race to the Top created more policy reform in eight months than we saw in the last eight years; there is some attention to chronic failure; and voluntary common standards will unleash investment and innovation. And then there is the undeniable press of learning technology–a storm surge behind a stubborn levy of employment contracts, outdated policies, and monopoly certification rights. The sector is a generation behind the rest of the economy, but new learning apps are sneaking into the formal system and even more rapidly into personal technology.
Sock Puppets and Sugar Daddies: NOM and GOProud Go Hand in Hand

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is halfway through its 20-state “One Man, One Woman” tour at which approximately one man and one woman seem to show up for them at each stop. But what NOM lacks in popular, grassroots support, it more than makes up for in funneling money for “anonymous” donors. Wednesday, NOM announced that it would spend untold sums to advertise in Spanish in California in support of Carly Fiorina, the failed CEO who wants to buy a Senate seat.
Not to be outdone, a few miles south of here in San Diego, a year-old right wing group called GOProud has carved out a niche for itself as the NOM of the gay right wing. GOProud, a so-called 527 organization that exists to influence the outcome of federal elections, is the first “gay” organization to accept funds from Doug Manchester and his Hyatt Hotel in San Diego that has been under boycott for two years. Mr. Manchester denies workers their rights and put $125,000 into the Prop. 8 campaign just as it qualified for the ballot.
Rhinebeck, NY Gets Ready For Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding (PHOTOS)

On Saturday morning, Rhinebeck erupted with cameras, tourists, Bill Clinton masks, limousines and people just trying to get ready for Chelsea and Marc’s wedding. By the afternoon, Roger Clinton and Ted Danson were out, along with TV reporters, t-shirt vendors and several people dressed up as mice with signs. Around 4 p.m., we found the first photos of designer Vera Wang in town (but no, we don’t know if she has designed Chelsea’s dress!). READ all about the frenzy here. But for those of you putting together a keepsake album, or who just want an inside look at the scene, scroll through the images below, click on the “CAPTION” tab to find out more about the picture.
Reflections on the Boss and the Infamous Summer of ‘77

When I learned that Yankees owner George Steinbrenner passed away a few weeks ago, my mind instantly traveled back to the notorious summer of 1977 in New York City. I was only ten years old but “The Boss” was a most captivating — and even intimidating — figure to young Yankee fans like me. Inner city kids worshiped the ground that Reggie Jackson walked on. To us he was Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle rolled into a delicious eponymous chocolate bar that was layered in peanuts and caramel. With every bite we chanted, “Reg-GIE! Reg-GIE! Reg-GIE!” and danced around in blissful circles on the sandy shores of Rockaway Beach, Queens.
The memorable headlines from the Daily News and the New York Post took turns roping Jackson and Steinbrenner to the media’s whipping post, but somehow true die-hard Yankee fans never came away despising either one of the larger than life sports figures. The press loved to hate Mr. October for allegedly saying he was the “the straw that stirs the drink.” And they also lampooned Steinbrenner for his very public rows with manager Billy Martin. But, truthfully, as long as the Yankees delivered, which they did, I adored the famed ballclub — warts and all.
Keeping the "Most Dangerous" Locked Up Indefinitely

You are the judge and jury on this one. There are a lot of numbers to take into account here so read carefully.
A man who knew he was HIV positive admitted to having unprotected sex with dozens of women and girls as young as 14. Health officials put the number of his potential HIV victims at 75. It was discovered that at least 13 of those females had been infected with the HIV virus, including the 14 year old. In media interviews after the man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to twelve years in prison for statutory rape and reckless endangerment, he boasted that he’d actually had up to 300 sexual partners.
